We’re looking for a hands-on and organised Yard Controller / Valeter to join a busy commercial vehicle operation in Nottingham. This varied role combines vehicle movements, valeting and yard control, making it ideal for an experienced Yardman or Shunter Driver with a Class 2 licence who enjoys keeping operations running smoothly.

Key Responsibilities:

You’ll play an important part in keeping the Nottingham yard safe, organised and ready for action.

• Complete daily yard checks to ensure the site is safe, tidy and organised
• Clean and valet vehicles to a consistently high standard
• Move and position commercial vehicles around the yard safely
• Check vehicles and ancillary equipment, including tail-lifts, and report defects promptly
• Keep vehicles accessible, easy to locate and ready for customers and colleagues
• Support vehicle check-in and check-out processes
• Welcome customers, suppliers and visitors professionally
• Support the delivery and handover of new and used vehicles
• Prioritise tasks effectively and support the wider team when required

What we’re looking for:

You’ll need to be proactive, practical and confident working in a fast-paced commercial vehicle environment.

• Full UK driving licence
• HGV Class 2 (Category C) licence
• Previous experience as a Yard Controller, Yardman or Shunter Driver would be advantageous
• Good understanding of commercial vehicles
• Strong attention to detail and a neat, disciplined approach
• Calm and positive attitude when working under pressure
• Confidence, initiative and a willingness to take ownership
• Good communication skills with customers, suppliers and colleagues
• Flexible approach and willingness to learn and develop
• Strong awareness of vehicle and yard safety
