Foreman – Banbury, Oxfordshire | £40,000 salary, paid overtime & clear progression

We’re recruiting for an experienced Foreman to lead a busy workshop operation in Banbury, Oxfordshire. This is a hands-on leadership role where you’ll take ownership of a diverse fleet, support a skilled engineering team, and play a key part in driving standards, safety, and efficiency within a well-established operation.

Key Responsibilities:

As part of this construction and plant hire operation, your role will include:

• Supervising and leading a team of Plant Fitters and workshop personnel

• Scheduling, allocating, and overseeing maintenance, servicing, and repair work across the fleet

• Diagnosing and resolving complex mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical faults

• Ensuring all equipment meets statutory requirements including LOLER and PUWER

• Completing final quality checks and testing before equipment returns to hire

• Managing workshop stock, parts, tools, and consumables

• Maintaining excellent HSE standards and ensuring full PPE compliance

• Overseeing staff performance, training, rotas, and working hours

• Keeping accurate service records, reports, and safety documentation

• Monitoring costs, downtime, and workshop efficiency for management reporting

What we’re looking for:

To succeed as a Foreman, you’ll ideally have:

• Previous experience leading a workshop or engineering team

• Strong technical knowledge of heavy equipment or plant hire machinery

• A solid understanding of health & safety and compliance standards

• Confident leadership and communication skills

• The ability to plan workloads, manage priorities, and control costs

• A hands-on, proactive approach with a high attention to detail
