Caretaker – Plymouth, Devon – £21-24ph- Enhanced DBS Required

Are you an experienced Caretaker looking for a rewarding role within education? We’re recruiting for a reliable and proactive School Caretaker to support a group of schools across Plymouth, covering a long-term sickness absence with the potential for ongoing work.

The Role

As a School Caretaker, you’ll be responsible for the day-to-day maintenance and upkeep of the school sites, including:

• Carrying out general porterage duties
• Completing basic repairs and maintenance
• Tidying playgrounds and external areas
• Emptying bins and maintaining cleanliness across the sites
• Painting and decorating during school holidays
• Liaising with contractors attending site
• Carrying out statutory compliance checks
• Opening school buildings each morning
• Ensuring the sites remain safe and well-presented at all times

What We’re Looking For

To be successful, you’ll have:

• Previous experience working as a School Caretaker or in a similar facilities or maintenance role
• Experience carrying out statutory building compliance checks
• Good practical maintenance and repair skills
• A proactive and organised approach
• Excellent communication skills when dealing with contractors and school staff
• A full Enhanced DBS registered on the Update Service
• Full compliance and right to work documentation
• A full UK driving licence would be advantageous due to travelling between sites
